  1. Each Gearbox and OnRamp DVB-S-S2 has 8 satellite tuners located on 4 dual channel receiver cards.
  2. Each of the 8 or 16 Tuners in OnRamp, Gearbox, or Gearbox II can be set up to see an entire transponder.
  3. Each Transponder carries approximately 40 channels.
  4. Our software can select any stream from any of the 8–16 transponders for forwarding and transcoding.
  5. Gearbox™ DVB-S-S2 10 Tuners/IP can transcode 40 SD streams from MPEG-2 to H.264 in real time. Gearbox™ II can transcode 80 streams and can accommodate 16 RF (Sat) inputs.
  6. Gearbox™ can transcode up to 10 HD 1080i/p streams or 15 720p60 streams from MPEG-2 to H.264.
  7. Each of the streams can be sent to DVEO Gearbox™ II Anytime, Anytime IP IP, WOWZA®, or Adobe™ servers.

  13. Rain Fade, ICE, SNOW, etc., and Atmospheric Conditions will affect the quality of the RF signal hitting our tuner chip… If the signal to noise ratio deteriorates then the streams we are transcoding will generate errors… IMPORTANT NOTE!!

It is highly suggested that RF cables used between Satellite Dishes and our RF Equipment be RG-6… This is the only type of cable that will meet the RF input needs of our receiver cards… The maximum distance without RF amplifiers is 250 feet.  We need a good Signal to Noise Ratio.
