Las Vegas, NV-April 8, 2002- CMI
a leader in broadband video delivery technologies,
is announcing at NAB 2002 the worldwide debut of its new
IP CasterT Gateway which enables End to End delivery
of DVB® ASI Multiprogram Transport Streams over high speed
Internet Protocol(IP) Connections often referred to as a Broadband.
DVB® ASI Transport Streams are typically multiplexed at Cable
Head Ends and up to now have been primarily transmitted via
Satellite. With the advent of the IP Caster™ large and small
MSO's and Television Networks can stream their multichannel
content to remote locations via existing High Speed Broadband
fiber or copper links which are in abundant supply and today
are often less expensive than satellite connections. Al Delir,
Support Manager CMI, said "In Europe where Digital Cable is
more advanced, cable companies have already deployed Broadband
in their primary infrastructure and this kind of technology
is particularly well suited for them".
The initial models of IP Caster™ come with GigE interfaces
. CMI also plans to support Copper Gigabit Interfaces. The
inputs are DVB ASI at this time with ATSC (SMPTE 310M) Interfaces
important features that make this product stand out:
1. SNMP Management: This allows remote management
of the IP Caster™ in large heterogeneous networks.
2. Low PCR Jitter : This is crucial in management
of data over long data paths.
The product provides great cost savings and therefore represents
groundbreaking capability to DVB ASI users in North America,
Europe, and Asia.
Introductory Price of a System Consisting of a Receiver
and Transmitter is $21,995.Volume Discounts are available
for MSO's and Networks. CMI is also looking for prominent
dealers to carry this new product throsughout the world.
